Our Alter an Alley Cat program will be hosting spay days throughout the year to provide very low cost spay/neuter to cats owned by lower income households and feral cats cared for by caregivers on limited incomes. These spay days are held at a vet in the North Raleigh area.

Alley Cats and Angels:

  • Rescues stray and abandoned cats and kittens and young kittens from feral colonies; socialize the cats in a foster home environment, fully vet the cats; and then find loving, permanent, and safe homes for the cats
  • Helps alleviate the problem of overpopulation in our area by sponsoring spay/neuter surgeries for cats from low-income/hardship families
  • Brings attention to the plight of feral cats and helps facilitate zero growth in street/feral colonies by sponsoring spay/neuter surgeries for feral cats;
  • Relocates at risk feral cats into safe barn/garden homes so they are no longer in danger and have a second chance at life; and
  • Educates the public about pet overpopulation and promote spay/neuter.

A feral cat is not socialized to humans, cannot be approached, touched, or picked up.

•     Contact a local vet and ask them to scan the cat for a microchip. Most vets should provide this service free of charge

•     Place a found cat ad (free of charge) in a local newspaper

•     Register a found pet report with local shelters

•     If there are no responses to the found pet ads, contact local rescue organizations to get the cat on their intake waitlists
•     If the cat is not spayed/neutered, please spay/neuter the cat to help end the overpopulation crisis. There are many local low-cost spay/neuter options available
