Étouffée is a sweet black cat with expressive eyes and cute patches of white on her chest and belly. Her face is permanently sad, although sometimes it comes across as mad in pictures. She’s not very playful, but she is very sweet. Étouffée had a rough start to life, as she came from a stressful hoarding situation. She is very shy at first and it takes a long time to earn her trust. After mostly just hiding for a month in her latest foster home, she one day just confidently strolled out and started giving loving head butts to her foster mom! Then she asked for chin scratches from foster dad and finally purred. When she does feel comfortable, she enjoys hanging out with you, just chilling and watching whatever you are doing. If you really want to win her over, give her some butt scratches and wet food. Etouffee loves trying to catch the elusive red dot (laser pointer). Etouffee was rescued from a bad situation where there were over 20 cats in one room of a house and there wasn’t enough food or water. She was sick for a while due to malnutrition but she has a clean bill of health. Etouffee does fine with other cats but would do best in a home without children because she thrives in a fairly calm and quite environment.
